Dermaplaning prior to a mild chemical peel speeds the action of the peel to reveal fresh, renewed skin. The peel ingredients are carefully chosen for our client, based on skin type, sensitivity and the various types of skin conditions to address. Dermaplaning is the removal fine, vellus facial hair while gently exfoliating the dead skin cells. Makeup will go on smoother and products will penetrate deeper after this treatment.

Dermaplaning works by gently and safely gliding a specialized surgical blade at a 45degree angle across the face and hands. As our trained dermal experts sweep the blade across the desired areas, they are able to effectively exfoliate dead skin cells, remove fine hair and take away the very top congested layers of the skin. Once this unwanted debris is removed we are able to reveal new fresh skin layers, resulting in softer, glowing and more radiant looking skin.
Dermaplaning is an excellent choice for anyone who has fine facial hair, unusually sensitive skin, or rosacea. The only people for who Dermaplaning is not recommended are those with acne-prone skin. Oil from the sebaceous glands needs to travel along the villous hair to be excreted, and when the hair is removed, the oil builds up and blocks glands on the face which causes breakouts for people who are prone to them. In addition, anyone with numerous raised lesions or skin irregularities, or a nickel allergy, should not undergo Dermaplaning.
We recommend ongoing treatments of dermaplaning every 2-3 weeks as vellus hairs start to regrow. For exfoliation and removing dead skin cells we suggest treatments every 4 weeks.
No. Dermaplaning is a great treatment for exfoliating the skin and achieving a glowing, smooth and radiant appearance.
Both treatments are effective at exfoliating the skin. Where dermaplaning uses a handheld blade to remove dead skin cells, microdermabrasion uses a small machine that provides a diamond tip exfoliation and suction at the same time. Microdermabrasion is a more intensive exfoliating treatment and is more effective where a deeper clean is desired. Microdermabrasion however is unable to remove vellus hair and therefore cannot achieve the same smooth hairless result that dermaplaning provides.
When it comes to Dermaplaning and the use of the very sharp blade used, there are zero safety concerns if the procedure is performed by a trained and licensed provider. Dermaplaning is no more dangerous than a man getting a facial shave from a barbershop as long as the provider is qualified. It often goes without saying, but when you undergo Dermaplaning it is important to sit very still since it is performed with a sharp blade.
